Cameron's Jewellers

I contacted Cameron of Cameron's jewellers as I was impressed with what I had seen of his work on Facebook.

After discussing my request on the phone, Cameron came around to my place so that we could discuss what I wanted done. I had sourced a basic image - something which had taken me days of searching - and, I showed him how I wanted him to do the piece.

I later later cancelled the job but when I asked Cameron for the sketch back, he told me he had thrown it away. I was very unhappy with this for several reasons:

1. As we had sat together when discussing my ideas and he left immediately afterward, he knew I had no copy of the sketch. This was in October. 2. When I contacted Cameron again to do the work, he made no mention of the fact that he had thrown the spec away, in fact, he referred to it several times. As he was too busy to do the work as soon as I wanted, he referred me to another jeweller. This was in December 3. I again contacted Cameron as I really wanted him to do the piece; he promised to re-quote me. Again, he made no mention that he had thrown the spec away., in fact, he advised he would be able to finish the piece by the end of February. This was in January 4. I contacted Cameron again in February and he advised me that he was no longer taking work as he was too busy. This was in February. At this point, I asked Cameron for the spec and he told me he had thrown it away as I had cancelled the job. However, Cameron knew I wanted to pursue the job and had referred to the spec all along.

When I told Cameron that I was unhappy, he advised that he threw everyone's specs away if they cancelled the job. Cameron seemed to think this meant it was OK to throw my spec away without asking, telling or checking with me.

I find it unprofessional and inconsiderate in the extreme, that Cameron simply threw the spec away without even telling me. It is inconceivable to me that a professional person just throws a client's specifications away, particularly when they know there is no other record of the spec.

When I told Cameron, that I was unhappy with his actions and that I had no copy, he just kept repeating that he throws everyone's away when the job is cancelled. He has never apologised or expressed any kind of regret about the matter. In fact, Cameron then claimed some kind of ownership of the spec and ideas and said that he threw the spec away to prevent me taking his ideas to someone else. This after he referred me to another jeweller and in spite of the fact that I instructed him what to do.

It is unfortunate that I have had this experience as I really like Cameron's work. Howerver, it is impossible to deal with someone who behaves in such an unprofessional manner and with no consideration nor regard for the client.
