MASSMART SHOULD STAY OUT OF THE ON-LINE BUSINESS

I live in a small remote town in the Karoo. I buy 90% of my goods on line and have it delivered.

IT WORKS WELL, THAT IS, EXCEPT FOR TWO MASSMART “BRANDS”, MAKRO AND BUILDERS. My irritation with makro is that they cancel items from my orders [paid for] without any warning or without giving me an alternative. But at least makro do not charge for deliveries if one purchases items above R 500.00.

Builders manages to be worse! A few weeks ago, I tried to order on-line from Builders Warehouse in Bloemfontein (235 Km away), same town as makro. The total for my order [small electrical items] was R 707.98. DELIVERY CHARGE: R 4,375.00 YES, FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE RAND - insane!

To put it in perspective: Takealot (irrespective of distance) do not charge for delivery for orders above R500.00 even to remote areas like mine. Dis-Chem (irrespective of distance) charge R150.00 for delivery to remote areas.

So, I decided to order on-line from Builders Express in Walmer [Gqeberha] and have it picked up from the store. I ordered the items and paid. The following day, without warning, BUILDERS CANCELLED MY ORDER!

I just cannot win when it comes to buying on-line from Massmart brands.
