Useless Medical Aid Scheme

This scheme has a laundry of exclusions and a complete disregard for preventative care. From acne medication to pre-exposure prophylaxis, nothing is covered. I am baffled by what logic is app**** to make HIV-preventative medication an exclusion. South Africa has one of the highest HIV prevalence in the world. Caring for HIV-positive patients is exorbitantly expensive not to mention the high risk of default when patients are forced to take HIV treatment consistently. Why then, would CAMAF deny people who self-identify as high risk of HIV infection denied access to life-changing/ life-saving medication? So many medical aid schemes in South Africa now cover PrEP in the same way chronic medications are covered. The least Camaf can do is to allow members to decide to use the resources available to them to make choices that protect their health. I am completely appalled by the blatant disregard CAMAF has for the health of its members.
