I was forced to change medical aid since I changed employment. My wife was almost 5 months pregnant at the time. I was forced to pay for my child’s membership fee for the October month, since my child was born on the 31st of October via an emergency c-section. Never mind that, apparently they pro-rats the day-to-day benefits. It’s not as if I can ask my previous medical aid to transfer my benefits, and my medical aid expository increased by over 40%, just some ****** disguised as a good brand. The difficult part is that the time we joined was a time of sickliness with flue etc, we only were offered just about R8k for day-to-day benefits for the remainder of the year. My wife and I had to do get our glasses as our prescription had won off the over 2 year glass renewal time frame. Guess what they used the day-to-day benefit to pay about R7k of that amount to the optometrist and we are left with basically a hospital plan. I could not believe me paying for a premium service of medical aid that it doesn’t have separate optometrist benefits, and they mix all benefits together whether dentistry, family doctor etc.
