Beware of CAMAF - dishonourable medical aid

CAMAF has a host of reasons for not honouring claims, but they don't tell you what the problem is until you remember to query it, and then they send you a list of reasons that it COULD be. They will reject a claim that they cannot read properly, but won't tell you it is not accepted. When it is queried and then re-sent, they reject it again as it is out of the 4 month claim period. They do not accept large attachments, yet will not accept zip files. They reject some claims because of the format, yet will honour others sent in the very same format. Bottom line: Watch them like a hawk. They are *************.

Hello stos,

Kindly be advised that CAMAF communicates your claims status via your remittance. Your remittance reflects the rejection reason as well as a description of the rejection code.

Please remember that all claims need to be clear and legible so that it may be processed efficiently. Should we receive a claim which is unclear, we will notify you via your remittance.

The claim dated 01/04/2015, was received 08/09/2015, which is after the 4 month claiming period, therefore it was rejected as stale.

CAMAF accepts claims in the following un-editable formats only:
TIF, TIFF, PDF, JPD, JPEG. We are unable to process claims in any other format. Claims which are sent in zip files will not be accepted as it is not in one of the accepted formats.

Should the attachments be too large, you may resize the attachment or send the claims in separate emails (if it is more than one claim).
Alternatively, you may submit your claims via post, hand delivery or registered mail.

If you experience any problems submitting your claims to ***, please forward it to *** for assistance.

Yours Sincerely
