Non-payment and poor communication as a contractor with Caledon Code

I worked with Caledon Code as a contractor on a creative project.

Throughout the project, communication was inconsistent, with feedback often delayed for weeks, which affected progress and timelines.

After I raised concerns, it was agreed that I would receive 45% payment for the work already completed. I was informed that the payment would be actioned on 15 December, and I submitted my banking details as requested.

After no payment was received, I followed up multiple times. When I attempted to follow up via email, the email address I was instructed to use no longer existed, and I received no response for some time.

After re-following up again, I was informed that Caledon Code has since closed down, that none of my submitted material was used, and that I am entitled to disclose my experience.

I am sharing this review to document my personal experience so that other creatives and contractors can make informed decisions and protect themselves when entering similar agreements.
