Cafe – Finetsa Customer Feedback Our afternoon at Cafe Finesta started off on a positive note. The service was warm, and we enjoyed taking content and placing our order. However, the food unfortunately did not meet the standard expected, especially at a price point of over R100 per sandwich. The tuna mayo was soggy, lacked seasoning, and tasted like plain canned tuna mixed with unflavoured mayonnaise — far from what one would expect from a restaurant. Hoping for better, we tried the chicken mayo, but it was equally disappointing. It consisted of plain chicken with mayonnaise, with no creativity, flavour, or attention to detail. It felt like something you’d find at a convenience store rather than a sit-down café. The salad served alongside had visibly old lettuce and was heavily drenched in dressing without consideration for customer preference. Overall presentation was unappealing and did not enhance the dining experience. Out of respect, we attempted to provide constructive feedback privately and even offered suggestions, but this was unfortunately not well received. We returned a full sandwich and still paid the bill in full, as our intention was never to receive anything for free, but rather to support improvement. As someone in the social media and marketing space, I understand how small details can make or break a business. Customer feedback is an opportunity for growth, not criticism to be dismissed. My advice to the owner: listening, acknowledging, and improving goes a long way. An apology costs nothing, but it builds everything. This post is not written out of malice, but in the hope that it encourages better standards and highlights the importance of customer experience for small businesses.
