****** in La Plage

Good day I am a former employee of Cafe La Plage as in yesterday after I was smacked in the face and embarrassed in front of my colleagues, management and other guests in the shop. The incident arose after we(3 of my colleagues and myself) served a 40 seater table and the guy who has booked was drunk had asked to see his bill. He than started swearing the manager who was with us during the service for reason I couldn't understand. As the conversation went deeper he got louder and was getting aggressive towards the manager pointing his finger to his face and threatening his. The 2nd manager called the owner and they spoke till a point we're I was called to address a purchase of a bottle on the bill which was ordered by his guest. I was asked if I was told not to order bottles and I rep**** no, so they continued to ask who ordered the bottle I pointd to the guest and mentioned him. I was told by the owner there and than to sort it out, cash up and never come back because I am now fired. I never was told not to order things on the bill from other guest just told to take drinks orders and keep them coming, which is what I did. I did not get a warning I was fired on the spot for reasons unknown. The working environment is very disgracing and disgusting we work more than 15 hours and sometimes never get a break. We do not sit down till shift end all for R112.90 per day. We get one day Off week and two half days they feed us left over bones as stuff meals. The owner is Arabian and does not like South Africans he shows his ****** side by picking the foreigner ambassadors to do tables that will bring more tips. Once he was overheard talk to one of the managers(foreigner) that he wanted a new manager but not these Zulus, " I want someone like us" he spoke. Everyday is a struggle with the fear of loosing your job cause you m as y not know what can happen. When I first started the shop had only one ambassador left and all had left due to being mistreated. I left a job to get this job and borrowed money( which I still owe) just to get this job. My salary was not discussed till I started when he told us we won't get paid month end and he never pay us saying we are ***********. We loved day in day out in constant verbal abuse and threats to be beaten up it was like living in the apartheid era all over again. Cafe La Plage is a nice and expense place which attracts the rich and famous but not one of them know what abuse each and every staff member live through each day
