C Squared Projects, owned by Colin Rabe, has completed several home renovation projects for me over the years. Initially, the service, workmanship, owner involvement, and costs were excellent. Over time, however, owner oversight declined and was replaced by foremen whose work and conduct were lazy and unprofessional, including smoking on site, vaping in my home and playing loud content on their phones. The quality of work suffered, and meaningful progress only occurred when Colin personally visited the site. Although projects ran over schedule, I was repeatedly asked to advance payments due to cash-flow issues with other clients. Wanting to assist, I paid ahead of schedule—ultimately covering full renovation costs earlier than required, which in retrospect was naive. A ceiling fan removed during one renovation also went missing, and no one took responsibility. In the final project, I paid approximately R10,500 for a specific ringfenced component of the renovation. This work was never completed, and no materials were purchased. When I requested a refund, my messages went unanswered for weeks. Colin eventually acknowledged the issue, accepted fault for the lack of communication, and promised repayment the following Monday. No further communication followed, and no refund was made. While the amount may be modest, the principle and the disregard shown are unacceptable. I have now appointed legal representation to resolve the matter. In summary: I strongly advise against using C Squared Projects.
