Pool renovation gone bad

I never write reviews, but in this instance I did not have a choice. I wanted to use Banie for a pool renovation. He had done work at out one house and it went all well and smooth so when we had a bigger project I called him in to quote us on a pool resizing. Banie came and saw myself and my wife on site and talked up at how he could do it and gave a time frame that was very fast. He quoted us and we were happy with it. Asked for a deposit that was paid and thats when it went side ways. We paid him a deposit and then he disappeared for 2 days, when I got hold of him he said his phone fell into a glass of coke and had to be fixed. Suffice to say, I was worried and we flagged the transaction as *****. After getting hold of him, he apologised, we lifted the flag and hoped work would continue speedily, he told us 2 to 3 weeks and he would be done. However things started slowly and were not progressing, every time I wanted to see him on site in the afternoons he was home and not there. I had builders on site as well, who also pointed out that what he was planning on doing would not work. I had to go and collect the material he supposedly bought from builders. When I got the information for the collection, I realised the material was only bought the day I told him I will collect it for him. After this I thought the work would progress and yet it did not. I told Banie that he needs to stop and refund us our deposit. Suffice to say my money is gone and I have not heard of him since. I got several pool contractors in afterwards, that said what he would have done would not have worked at all and that his costings do not make sense. Banie knows how to play the system. I would not recommend him at all.
