Rabies risk due to unvaccinated animals.

My family and I were exposed to an unvaccinated domestic animal at this farm. The ownership do not have the cat’s papers and only a local vet could advise us that the cat was last due for vaccination in 2016. On recommendation from our pediatrician and the NICD protocols, we had to undergo the full post exposure vaccination course as a result, costing in excess of R10000, 00. This is in contravention of South African legislation and a significant risk to human life. Do not risk it.
