Shoddy workmanship and poor after sales service
in 2023 my vehicle was repaired and painted by Burlington Panel beaters, 25 Stanhope Place, Durban. As a courtesy I was dropped at work after leaving the vehicle with them and fetched again when the vehicle was ready. In mid 2024 the paint on the left front door started to flake off and one could see the blue of the secondhand door that had been used (the use of a 2nd hand door was agreed upon before the repair) I spoke to the owner and his assistant, and they agreed to repair the flaw. I dropped off the vehicle as agreed and was told that the vehicle would be ready later that day. I was again dropped off at work and told by the driver that he would most likely be the one fetching me in the afternoon since he knew where he'd dropped me off. later that afternoon I called to enquire about my car because I had no transport to get home. The assistant was very rude and told me that I must make arrangements to fetch the vehicle. this was half an hour before they closed the shop. I received no feedback through the day and at no time was I told that the vehicle was ready, and I had to make arrangements to fetch the car until I enquired. I contacted the owner of the business on the next day to complain about the poor treatment that I received from his subordinate and he in turn screamed and shouted at me for expecting them to fetch me from work and slammed the phone down. needless to say, I had to make the necessary arrangements for someone to fetch the car on my behalf. Is it because the initial repair was an income for the business that I was treated differently from the 2nd repair which was because of their own inferior workmanship in the first place. It is sad that our motor industry is given a bad name because of small businesses that don't practice common decency, etiquette and after sales customer service. The arrogance that was displayed by both frontline people was appalling.
