Burger King Celtis Ridge: Wrong Order, Abusive Manager, Threatening Behaviour - We Paid and Left Empty-Handed. Order:2592
I am absolutely shocked by the treatment my family received at Burger King Celtis Ridge on 1 May 2026.
We went to the restaurant physically to buy dinner for three people because we have repeatedly had problems with wrong Burger King orders through delivery apps - wrong burgers, wrong extras, missing or incorrect items. This time, we decided to go directly to the branch so that the order could be handled properly.
A friendly lady assisted us with the order. We specifically ordered and paid for 20 crispy wings as part of our meal. When we got home and opened the food, we discovered that Burger King had given us 20 nuggets instead of the 20 wings we paid for.
Because my child had specifically wanted the wings, I drove all the way back to the branch with my child to correct the mistake. Before we even entered the restaurant, a female staff member at the front shouted to the back, “Wrong order!” This immediately made it seem like wrong orders are a normal occurrence at this branch.
When we entered, a male staff member came forward. His name tag appeared to say “Tshinifwa.” I explained that we had been given nuggets instead of wings. Instead of checking the order properly and apologising, he immediately suggested that we must have ordered the wrong thing. The lady who had taken our order was present and confirmed that we had ordered wings and that she remembered the order.
At that point, the situation should have been simple: apologise, correct the order, and let the customer leave with the food they paid for.
Instead, this staff member became rude, aggressive, and insulting. He told the female staff member not to help us. When I tried to look properly at his name tag, he became even more hostile and said words to the effect of: “Futsek, you are trying to memorize my name, I don’t care.”
He then shouted at us, accused us of wanting free food, and repeatedly used abusive language including “F* you.”** This happened in front of my child.
I asked where the manager was, only to be told that this same person — the person swearing at us, refusing to resolve the complaint, and shouting at customers — was the manager.
This is completely unacceptable.
A manager is supposed to de-escalate a problem, not create one. A manager is supposed to protect the Burger King brand, not embarrass it. A manager is supposed to resolve a wrong order, not intimidate a customer who has already paid and driven back because of the restaurant’s mistake.
The situation became so unpleasant and uncomfortable that we left without the proper resolution. We had already paid Burger King, we drove back to fix Burger King’s mistake, and we still ended up leaving without the food we paid for. We then had to go and buy food somewhere else.
This was not just a “wrong item” complaint. This was a complete breakdown of customer service, management, food-order accuracy, and basic respect.
I am asking Burger King South Africa, the franchise owner, and the regional operations team to urgently investigate:
The order record from 1 May 2026 at Burger King Celtis Ridge. The CCTV footage from when we placed the order and when we returned. The staff member/manager whose name tag appeared to say “Tshinifwa.” The female staff member who confirmed that we ordered wings. The repeated wrong-order problem at this branch. Why a manager thought it was acceptable to swear at a paying customer and behave in a threatening way while a child was present.
I do not want a generic copy-and-paste apology. I want this escalated to the actual owner/operator of Burger King Celtis Ridge and the regional manager responsible for this store.
Burger King must explain how a customer can pay for food, receive the wrong item, return politely to correct it, then be sworn at, shouted at, intimidated, and still leave without a proper resolution.
This branch needs urgent intervention. The wrong orders are bad enough. But the behaviour of the person presented as the manager was far worse.
Burger King South Africa, please provide:
A full refund. A written apology. Confirmation that CCTV has been reviewed. Confirmation that this incident has been escalated to the franchise owner and regional manager. Confirmation of what corrective action will be taken. A proper plan to stop the repeated wrong orders at Burger King Celtis Ridge.
Customers work hard for their money. They should not have to pay for food, drive back because of Burger King’s mistake, be sworn at by a manager, and leave feeling bul**** and disrespected.
Burger King Celtis Ridge has seriously failed us. I expect urgent action, not excuses.
