The MD for Bundu Power Mr.Colin Sykes refuses to allow repairs for generator that stopped working after 2 weeks despite being under warranty for 2 years
- I purchased a 6.5KVA silent Diesel generator from Bundu at a cost of R22,300.00 on 5 November 2019 invoice DN 043835 my sales man was Micheal Anderson (later proved no reliable on after sale service requests) - After 2weeks the generator stopped working. - Generator was under warranty for 2 years. - I contacted their head of repairs Mr Brandon, Brandon, gave us instructions to bypass the control unit in trying to start the generator, this was not successful. - The head of repairs suggested we turn-in the generator to their workshop for repairs as it was under warranty. - Dundu power refused to repair this generator when it arrived to them instead quoting us repair costs. - Bearing in mind this generator only work with us for less than 2 weeks. - What was faulty was the control console for starting the generator. - Dundu Power MD Mr. Colin Sykes, told me that we violated warranty because we brought in the generator with flat tyres/ wheels, the generator was dirty and the frame had a part that was bent. -I told him we do not wish for the tyres to be repaired neither, do we need the frame straightened because we are a heavy duty machinery company and we work in rough terrain with dust therefore, we do not need fancy wheels and fancy looking generators. -I went further to explain that the dent or bent frame was due to transportation handling as it had been transported for a distance of 1200 km from our location outside of South Africa to their repair shop. The African roads terrain are dumpy and dusty this explains the dents, dust while being transported for repairs to RSA by road. The MD could not believe this from the comfort of their luxury life in Sandton at the cost of small businesses in Africa. -We exchanged emails with the MD of Power Dundu Mr.Colin Sykes with no resolve until; - On 19 March 2020 The MD for Bundu Power Mr. Colin Sykes sent me an email saying he would look further into my matter and revert. -Mr. Colin Sykes the Managing Director of Bundu has not bothered to respond to me as promised to this date since 19 March 2020. - On 24 July 2020 with no feedback received from Dundu power, I sent another email asking Colin Sykes to pin point for me on their Terms & conditions the clause that we violated to void our warranty. Colin Sykes has never rep**** to state to us this clause that we violated. - Colin then responded pointing to the wiring bypass which was instructed by Brandon their senior technician as one of the reason for having warranty null in void. My question was why penalising us when this was due to a recommendation from Brandon, we simply followed instructions. - Second reason was that wheels were bent honestly who would want to drop 22000 rands. I remind them the transportation issue and in two weeks we never dropped the generator. - I later received an email from one of the sales lady called Megan Pedlar threatening me that they are throwing away my generator to the s**** yards because it is taking up their space. Showing zero regards that they were in possession of a R22k generator. You can already sense the disrespect and disregard for clients and small businesses. -I informed her that I do not consent to this actions. -There has been no resolve to this issue to this day for over 1 year 8 months since December 2020.
As has been discussed extensively over email:
- The generator was returned to us having been dropped. There was internal damage to the generator not covered by warranty.
- The generator is covered by a 6 month warranty. This information was on the quotation, terms and conditions, website and invoice prior to sale.
- The generator has been sitting in our workshop for well over a year. We have been in contact multiple times to find out what you would like to do with the generator.
Unfortunately the generator was returned to us in a state that is not economical to repair. We have indicated this to you and requested you collect the generator. If the generator is not collected from our workshop it will be disposed of to defray costs.
