Unprofessional service and poor management on returning a faulty product at Builders express Dorp street, Stellenbosch

I purchased a Golden Air portable air conditioner in November 2023, its warranty is 12 months, the USB port was faulty and I could not power it on. I returned the product intact with the box on Thursday 19 October 2023 to Buiders Dorp street Stellenbosch. I had mislaid my till strip and I asked the Admin manageress to reprint this , she would not assist . I was told yes you could have bought this product at Game or any number of shops , disgusting. So I was told the supplier would not credit Builders because there was no proof and it would not be exchanged, furthermore it cost me R599.90 but it appeared this problem was not Builders. I requested the store manager and a Lionel Faro appeared, I was told to go and rummage through my statements, no help or acknowledgement it was their product. The man had assumed an arrogant and aloof position , apparently totally disinterested. I told him Stellenbosch is a small community and I would never come back to their store or spend any money here because their attitude was pathetic , they just don't have any after sales service and it appears my complaint was just entirely bothersome. I would advise shoppers not to frequent this local business, because management are rude and have an arrogant attitude, they should not be in the service industry and need training on how to resolve a clients problem. I left the product there and I was both disappointed and disgusted at their arrogance and unwillingness to make the slightest effort to help me.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm sorry for the experience you've had and for the frustration caused.

I'll liaise with our team to put measures in place to improve customer experience.

Due to legislative requirements, we are unable to refund or exchange any products without a till slip or tax invoice being present.

I'll escalate this matter for you and we will be in touch.

Regards
BB

Wherever the CPA entitles a consumer to a refund, it must be interpreted to mean that the consumer has the election on how to receive the refund. This means that while refunds as in-store vouchers or credits are not ******* per se, if the consumer demands a cash refund the supplier must give it to them. Also in terms of s56, the consumer (not the supplier) can decide whether to choose the refund, replacement or repair.
