Sunninghill Store - Bad Service
I was at the store on Friday evening, around 18h30 or so, looking to purchase some outdoor furniture. I got to the store looked around and decided what I wanted to purchase, but I had some questions regarding the items. I hit the buzzer thingy that asks for assistance and waited. After waiting and waiting, I pressed them buzzer thingy, asking for assistance again. All this is happening while the lady at the information desk is watching me and chatting to her friend/colleague. They were having so much fun by themselves (dancing and laughing) that they couldn’t be bothered by my need to for assistance. Eventually after accepting that they have no interest in assisting me, I walked over to them to ask for assistance and they decided to page the lady who’s the expert with the outdoor furniture. Unfortunately after the Info Desk lady and her dancing gentleman friend/colleague saw the irritation on my face, the gentleman decided to “assist me”. Once the outdoor furniture expert arrived, she only had to check the stock so I can make my purchase. She confirmed that there was stock and proceeded to write down the item barcode for me so I could go and pay. I went to pay and was told I have to go and pick up the items from the collections side. I get to the collections side, the Outdoor Furniture Expert lady takes my slip, and disappears. So now I’m standing there wondering what on earth is going. One of the gentlemen who works on the collections side explains that the Outdoor Furniture Expert lady has gone to get my items. So I wait and wait and wait and wait, only for her to return and tell me that only the chairs are in stock and there is no table. She asks if I can go collect the items from a different branch. Obviously I refused because if she couldn’t even confirm proper stock in her own store, how could she get it right at a different store, wasting my time. I then ask for a refund. The Outdoor Furniture Expert lady hands over my slips to one of the cashiers on the collections side and tells her to do a refund, and then the Outdoor Furniture Expert lady walks away. I wait there while the cashier does my refund, then she hands me a bunch of slips. I ask her if she needs my bank card to do the refund and she says she’s processed a voucher for me. Now, why on earth would I want a voucher after such service? To be honest, I’d rather eat glass than go back to this store. Now she has to find hard cash to give to me but it’s proving to be impossible since everyone else on the collections side has cashed up and gone home. I’m made to walk all the way back to the other cashiers so they can check their floats if they have enough cash for my refund. Eventually, a different cashier and another gentleman help put together my refund, all while the manager is busy shouting at everyone “one last customer inside the store” Good God, the trauma. I don’t understand why the Outdoor Furniture Expert lady would tell me that there is stock and then the table for the set is missing. I understand that people want to knock off and go home, but had people done things and assisted correctly and patiently, so much irritation and frustration could have been avoided. This is the second time this is happening to me, where the staff is barely functional just because it’s 30 minutes before closing time. In fact, the second I walked through the door, one could see they annoyance on their faces, like why would a customer come the store so late when we just want to shut down and go home. Since you can see that people have issues being at the store till late, why stay open so late then? Why not just trade from 7am to 5pm? This will cause less issues and won’t put you at risk of giving customers atrocious service.
I think it's safe to say that I will not be returning to the store.
Hi Mpho
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I'm sorry for the service you've received from our Rivonia store. This certainly isn't the experience we want you as our customer to have.
I am currently looking into this matter for you and will revert with the feedback.
Kind Regards
Kurt Damons
