Stock apparently discontinued

On Friday 27 February my friend and myself went looking for cabinet handles. I found the perfect handles displayed on the shelf, but there weren't any stock in the shelf. When I enquired from one of the assistants he said he will call the lady that works there. When the lady came she just said that it is out of stock. My friend then asked to speak to the manager. The manager came there and went to look on the computer. He then informed me that they are out of stock and will order 8 of them for me. He took my nr an wrote it at the back of his pocket book. I actually didn't think that he would call me back. Which he did not do untill my friend went back there this morning. Only then I suddenly received a call from him informing me that he has spoken to the supplier and the entire range has been discontinued. None of the other branches have stock either. I then went onto the internet and found several places has the exact same handle and in stock but for only 3 times the price of the ones I found at builders. Can it be that the price of R22.00 was incorrect on your shelf but neither the price or example was removed or was it just lazyness?
