Return Issue - of out of warranty item that was sent in for repairs while item was in warranty and was not fixed

I bought a fan from Builders warehouse that needed repairs, we managed to get the repair in before warranty expired. We then left on holiday overseas and was told the unit has been repaired. Only to collect it and have the same issue and then be told they cannot accept it as the warranty has lapsed. Firstly you order online only to be inconvenienced when items need to be returned because only if the builders stock the item you can return it there. Then they wait for the warranty to lapse and give us back the same faulty unit and now refuse to assist in repairs even though you can clearly see that the issue was there before warranty lapsed. This is honestly ridiculous and terrible service, I will never order anything from builders or encourage others to shop there. You don't have this issue with Leroy and Merlin or with Takealot! Disgusted and frustrated and really disappointed.
