Once CLEAN & NEW now DIRTY & OLD

So I received my cordless drill yesterday...

Firstly, I received it a month later after being told that it would take 10-12 days but it could be quicker as Ryobi is rather fast (as per the person behind the counter). If I hadn't gone in to query this, as to where it is, I would still be waiting.

Secondly, I pride myself on clean tools especially power tools, I clean and rebox them after every use. I haven't had the drill for a long time and so looking at the box you'd say it was still new.

Well, I arrived yesterday as they were closing, and picked it up after receiving an SMS saying it was ready and was not impressed.

Upon my initial inspection everything worked but what I found to be utterly unacceptable is the condition in which it was returned. The drill itself had grease over and in grooves, no, not new grease, but rather old grease, the battery even had filthy grease on the underside, the box looks like it had been through a "mangler" in a run down dirty motor workshop full of tears, gashed grease and oil stains.

It was given to Builders in pristine condition and much like anything that is how one would expect it to be returned, in the condition it was given, or cleaned but this was not the case.

I asked the person behind the counter what had happened, especially to the box and why it was so filthy, obviously the person could not answer me and laughed it off in an awkward manner.

Unfortunately, I required it about 2 weeks ago, so in a way I was kind of forced to take my tool whether it was clean or not as I cannot afford hiring tools (that's why I have my own).

Anyway, I plan to give it a good clean later, because I really cannot work with it in this condition but the box...sigh...I'll have to find or make another so that it can sleep snuggly when not in use.

Not impressed at all.
