Non adherance to NCC

I bought a Trimtech trimmer from Builders Express in Potchefstroom on 11 December 2021. This trimmer was sold with a 12 months guarantee. I used the trimmer 3x and on the 4th usage on 11 January 2022, it broke down. I took it back to Builders Express in Potchefstroom, just to be informed that they have to send it to the manufacturer for evaluation. I tried to made the manager understand that the trimmer is still under guarantee and that it was only used 3x. He then informed me that it can only be exchanged within 7 days after purchase and anything more than 7 days it should be send back to the manufacturer for evaluation. It is quite clear that Builder Express in Potchefstroom is totally wrongly informed regarding the responsibility of guarantee breakage as set out in the NCC, 2H 55, 56 and 57. The 7 days is when a purchased product is not what expected it to be and the consumer want to hand it back. In this case it is a guarantee case and the more I tried to explain it to the manager, the more he kept to his 7 days. Builders Express in Potchefstroom already got a reputation of poor service and with this current non adhereance to the NCC I definitely take my business elsewhere.
