I go into your store because you stock the Wild Bird Seed that the doves and mossies in my garden love. The (now) R110 bag is often one of the only reasons I head in, but I begrudgingly still walk through the tills spending a fair bit more than I had gone in for.
Your scatter cushions are lovely, the Alva 6-burner braai works like a dream and we love relaxing on the rattan 6-seater I purchased last year. I am not afraid to spend money in your store. I am however annoyed at having to take a basket of products to have their prices checked during every shop. Goods that I am wanting to purchase, but would still like to be able to compare against ranges and understand the value.
My shop 2 weeks ago had me traipsing around with over 10 items trying to find someone who could assist me with price-checks. Black fireplace paint, paint to colour my outside pots, paint brush sets, various garden trellis and then a new mirror for the bathroom. Yesterday, there were 4 more products - all from the same isle - I was buying tools for a work colleague who has recently moved into her new home and had a budget to work with.
If you are unable to have shelf-pricing maintained, please put some Capex into having a few easy-to-use self-scanners dotted around your stores, like some of the other retailers do.
Or develop an app. If I can scan products as I'm walking through your store, that would be even better.
My understanding is that your floor staff are there to assist with technical guidance. Your till staff are there to move the queues through quickly and efficiently, but if it is their responsibility to check pricing tickets during stock-takes, etc. then KPI's are not being met.
Best regards,
