Loss of Sales due to online stalemate

I have had a very frustrating experience at the Builders in Riverhouse Valley this morning. We were given the impressive by a Manager that we would qualify for a 15% discount for our purchases if we had a Builders Warehouse card. When we had collected all our items more than 2hours later, I was told that I would need to apply for the card on line, which I did and then we were told that the purchase had to be online. I became a little annoyed and requested that the manager who indicated that we would get the discount be called. While we waited for him the other manager said if we didn't do it online it would not happen. She left and while waiting for the first manager I told the information staff that we would need a quotation of the items because I would have to go home to complete the order online as I had a meeting and that I would come back later to pay for the stock which they would have to keep for me. I was then told that I could not pay in store, I have to put the finance onto the new card and use this to pay online. I told them that this would not be possible with the card I'd be using and so we now have a stalemate. I left without being the stock and Builders will now lose the sale. I cannot believe that when spending so much money, one is cornered into the 'deal' like this. Now I have signed onto a card which I ordinarily wouldn't have done. I cannot believe that this is how you retain your customers. I'm a loyal BW customer but have never wanted to own a card. I will now shop around for the +R15k of stock that I need.
