Went in to have a security gate key cut. !st attempt failed, wouldn't even go in the lock. Took the key back and showed both ladies that the keys just didn't match. One side was fine but the other was too wide. I was told that it's the channel causing the problem, to which I told her no, it's clearly too wide. I asked her to cut the key again just to make sure that everything was in place the first time.
She showed me that the machine wan't cutting anything new, ie. it was copying the original properly. The other lady was playing with a micrometer. Asked her for it and measured the keys in front of both of them. The copy was clearly a whole millimeter wider.
Any qualified locksmith worth their salt would know that that is HUGE! Yet, she insisted that the key should now work even tho I asked her to measure the keys and see the gap for herself. I asked her if the machine had any kind of adjustments/calibration to which she rep**** that she just uses the machine, the supplier probably knows how to calibrate it.
The machine clearly needs calibration and the staff, training!
Best regards,
