How to REALLY get ripped for delivery costs

I went to Builders warehouse online site at

https://www.builders.co.za/Building-Materials/Metal-Sections/Aluminium-Sections/Kedla-Table-Edging-%2820-x-2500mm%29/p/ ********** ********** 2599

to order a 2.5m long 20mm table top edging extrusion made from aluminium, perhaps it weighs 300 grams. The unit is required for a partially completed project and I have run short, the new edge must match the existing edges. I found the unit out of stock at most shops and had to order it from Bedworth park in Vereeniging, I live in Richards Bay. The unit cost of the item is R77, the transport cost quoted was R8,595.21 excluding VAT. Obviously I phoned to query this ridiculous amount, was told that that is what it is, no attempt to ship to my local branch, no attempt to rectify this obscene insult, I ended up paying R300 to have it delivered less than 10KM to a relatives house in Vereeniging. Welcome to the new digital age, we spit on you!!!

I am very pleased to report that Builders has gone the extra mile to make amends for the problematic transport costs, they have explained to me that this is a new online shop and has a few bugs, their apology is accepted and to sweeten the deal all transport costs have been refunded. I salute you for turning a bad situation good, well done builders.
