Goldair faulty Gas Heater not return because of the box being thrown away

I bought a Goldair heater last week nobody mentioned anything about not throwing a box away. Until I return today only to be told . I should have read the user manual . They then told me I won't be getting a refund , because I don't have a box. Goldair heater they have faults just found out . Everybody is returning them at builders. Newmarket Alberton.
