I made a purchase at Builders Express in Pinetown on the 07th of October 2017. The tranaction amounted to R 795.00 which I paid for using my Cheque Account card. On the 07th of November, I received an SMS Notification from my bank that my account had again been debited by Builders Express for the amount of R 795.00. Upon enquiries with my bank and Builders Express Pinetown, I was told that their bank, ABSA, had been experiencing some issues and therefore had reprocessed several customer transactions. This being a month after I had made my initial purchase. Apart from this, I incurred a bank charge on my account for R110.00 due to insufficient funds being in my account after the duplicated transaction. After much back and forth with the store, I was reimbursed my bank charge service fee of R110.00 and after 2 weeks, my account was credited with R795.00. This is where it starts to get interesting. On the 03rd of December, I received an SMS notification from my bank that my account had AGAIN been debited for R795.00 for a purchase made at Builders Express on the 07th of October. Imagine my reaction upon viewing this SMS. I was absolutely infuriated. After going into the store I had to resubmit bank statements etc AGAIN. I was copied in on an email the next day stating that the store cannot understand what has happened since the last time it had happened, the customer (being me) had gone into the store and demanded a refund from the store. This was utter lies. I had never been into the store previously and had not received a refund from the till. After all this, Builders Express want to offer me a R100 voucher for their store for the inconvenience. I refused to accept it and they came back to me after 3 days to say they will offer me a R200 voucher. The fact of the matter is, whatever has transpired thus far has been ********** activity. How many other customers ar eout there who do not check their bank statements and are not aware of multiple transactions like this taking place? I am sorry but R200 will not make me ignore what has happened. I will be seeking legal action against Builders Express.
Hi Terry
I'm sorry that your account has been debited multiple times.
I can understand your concerns as this shouldn't have happened at all.
I've escalated the matter and we will be in contact with you and keep you updated.
