Extremy Poor Service - Builders Warehouse

I purchased a Zodiac Pacer (Kreepy Krawly) from Builders warehouse in Sunningdale, Cape Town on the 05/04/2024 and explained to the Sales assistant that I has a small plunge pool with steps and seating. He assured me that the Zodiac Pacer would work well and clean all surfaces and if I was unhappy I could return the item at any stage for a refund. On his recommendation I bought the item and installed it the next day in my pool. To my dismay the Zodiac cannot climb the steps and just lies in one corner vibrating. I tried everything to get it to do it's job, but to no avail. Yesterday the 11th I returned the item to Builders Warehouse in Sunningdale and requested that they either refund me or give me a credit so that I could buy another pool cleaner, only to be told after a wait of 30 minutes, that this product must be returned to the manufacturer and that I might have to wait 4 to 6 weeks. I find this totally unacceptable and I left the branch as the return policy of the Consumer protection Act should apply. Further to this, their was nobody of authority on the floor of Builders Warehouse and it was extremely frustrating to try and communicate with junior staff members. I suggest that members of the public be aware of the poor service offered by the staff of this branch and rather shop at a hardware store that knows how to treat their customers. After all, we are the one's that keep there doors open by our support.
