Extras not so optional at Builders

I ordered a Ryobi 12 volt cordless hedge trimmer online from Builders Warehouse on 30 September 2019 and paid R850 for it. When I went to collect it at their Cape Gate branch about two weeks later, I saw a note on the box that read: "PLEASE NOTE: This machine EXCLUDES the battery and charger. These items are sold separately." At R749 and R350 respectively, according to their website, I might add. I told the staff at the collection point that no mention of a battery and charger is made in the adverti*****t. The same note that was on the box could easily have been included in the website ad. The collection point immediately agreed with me and refunded me on the spot and I received a telephonic apology from someone at Builders Warehouse, presumably their online department, plus a promise to amend the misleading adverti*****t. Lo and behold, the ad on their website still lacks any mention of the important fact you'll have to cough up R1949, not R850, before you can trim your hedge. So, caveat emptor, as they say, before you waste your time.
