Damage to property

Good day

I recently ordered building materials from Builders Warehouse The Glen and delivery was supposed to be scheduled for the 25th of November 2017. I confirmed this twice when I placed the order. On the 25th of November at about 12H00 I called Builders Warehouse The Glen again to confirm my order and the agent said that my order have been scheduled for delivery but he could not provide a delivery time for me.

I had builders scheduled for the 26th of November to start with work on my property hence it was important the building material would be delivered on the 25th of November. Needless to say no delivery happened. On the 26th of November I went again to Builders Warehouse The Glen only to found that my delivery has mysteriously disappeared. After speaking to one of the building supply managers Marcus my delivery was scheduled for the 26th of November.

At about 11H00 the material arrived on site and I instructed the delivery staff to reverse the truck about 2 meter and dump the sand and stone on the pavement. It started to rain and my builder and I took the cement bags to get them in haste away from the rain.

During this time the driver decided to reverse the truck onto my pavement over rocks that have been specially put down to prevent vehicles driving onto the pavement. Vumatell have recently done construction work in our area and the ground was still unstable due to the trenching that took place.

Due to the wet conditions the truck almost drove into my garden wall and they started to dump the sand and stone on my pavement. Then they decide to move the truck to the street again to dump the remainder of the material which did not happen as I was now furious as the truck have damaged not only my pavement but also the municipal water pipe.

After calling Builders Warehouse The Glen requesting a manger to site they said that they could not do it and will log an insurance claim.

On Monday after hearing no feedback from The Glen we called again only to find out that according to Mr Nico Janse van Rensburg they have lost my cell number. Strange he could not get my number form the delivery book?

On Tuesday 28th of November a representative from Value Truck visited my premises to inspect the damage. He said he would be in contact. Now two weeks later I still have received no feedback from Builders Warehouse The Glen.

All damaged have since been repired by me. It is amazing that such a big company cannot take responsibility for the staff’s actions.
