Builders Wharehouse Strubensvalley NO ENTRY
Yesterday was a very sad day for me having been a loyal shopper at Builders Wharehouse Strubensvalley Roodepoort. I was not allowed to enter the store because i was only wearing a Face Shield and not a mask> I am asthmatic and have difficulty breathing with a Mask so i wear a Face Shield. I was made to stand at the door like a dog for 30 minutes waiting for a Manager to explain that i have asthma and have to use an asthma pump and cannot breath properly with a face mask covering my nose and mouth therefore the Face Shield. Well no one arrived and i left. I called Customer care and today they came back with the answer that their health and Safety staff and top Management advised that i may not enter and Builders store wearing only a Face Shield as per Government regulations> Now ***, i have been to many shops on the Westrand wearing only my Face Shield no problem, i can go to a restaurant and have a meal, i can go to a Pub, i can go to other hardware shops, i can go into a take away, i can go to a hospital, i can go to the doctors rooms and so forth WEARING ONLY MY FACE SHIELD which they sell at many stores, including Hardware shops. So bottom line is if you have asthma or difficulty breathing and cannot wear a face mask only a Face Shield then dont go and try to shop at Builders Wharehouse you will not be allowed entry, go to your other hardware shop, Chamberlins, Buco or any other small self owner shop. When we have the second wave i feel sorry for those that have been wearing a Face Mask all day. When you cough wearing a face mask the air escapes out the sides and on the upper part of the mask Bottom line, myself and other company friends will no longer support Builders Wharehouse wishing you all the best for your business Regards

- In line with local and international public health advice (which has developed as our collective understanding of transmission has improved) face masks are regarded as the most effective covering to prevent transmission. We have therefore adopted this position in the interest of customer and staff safety.
- In terms of amended Covid-Nineteen Regulations the wearing of a cloth face mask, a homemade item or appropriate items that covers the nose and mouth is mandatory in public and within our Stores.
- Should anyone (whether it be our employee or a customer or a child) fail to wear a cloth face mask, a homemade item or appropriate items that covers the nose and mouth then our store Branch Managers may be fined and/or arrested in accordance with Regulation fourteen(six).
- The wearing of a face shield as a stand-alone preventative measure is not permitted within our stores as should any person cough, sneeze or spit, then the droplets may become airborne under the face shield and may escape from under the face shield. Accordingly, a face shield is not an appropriate item that covers the nose and mouth.
- As a result of the above, the wearing of a face shield may be worn in addition to a cloth face mask, homemade item or another appropriate item that covers the nose and mouth as additional protection. As advised, we do not view the wearing of a face shield as a stand-alone preventative measure within our stores.
