Builders Warehouse selling me used and faulty generator as new item

On 22/01/2022 I bought a Ryobi Inverter Generator from Builders Warehouse Fourways. There was only one in stock and I bought it. I did notice the box was not sealed but did not think much of it at the time.

When I got home I took the generator from the box and found that the 'supposedly new generator' I just bought, in fact had already repairs done on it by Stevens and Co on 09/11/2021 (Job card number 219885). The job card documentation was in the box. In fact I bought a used generator but was never informed by the sales person.

I never used the generator as I never had the need to, and the first time I used it was on 20/03/2022. It immediately gave me problems - it would run for 10 minutes and then stop. I took the generator back to Builders Warehouse Centurion on 21/03/2022 and was rudely informed that it has to be assessed first and the lady helping me did not want to hear about my story that it was repaired even before I bought it.

I told her I needed a generator same day and would prefer my money back to buy another generator - this was again denied. I subsequently bought another generator at Builders Warehouse Centurion.

I find it unacceptable that faulty and repaired equipment is being sold as new by Builders Warehouse and even put on the floor as to buy. I do not want that generator back as it seems to be problematic and I already bought a new one.
