Builders Warehouse New Market provided false info

Hi.

Builders warehouse consultant in Newmarket provided false information about an Ellies surge-plug ,he gave me the impression that the product and it's warrantee will protect my appliances against direct lightning and power surges.

When all my appliances stopped working I went to Ellies to lodge my claim and they declined it.

According to Ellies they say the plug warrantee "does not cover damages caused by temporary over voltage caused by loss of neautral or direct lightning strike." So now I feel stupid and misled by Builders representative .

My complain is ,Builders must train the guy because he did not provide the right info, otherwise I would not have bought the item ,and they must look into all the electrical sales consultants if they know the right info about this plug FWBP5 multi plug surge-protector 8way and 12 way.

Regards

Jeffrey .

Hi Jeffrey,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

This isn't the type of customer service we want you to receive.

I've escalated this to store management for it to be looked into and for preventative measures to be put in place.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,

Tristan Kelly

Thank you Tristan for your quick response.

I think this problem it's widespread, escalating this to the branch manager it's going to solve the problem only at branch level. Here is why, I frequent builders warehouse to buy stuff, and I was in builders warehouse Glen Eagles and I said let me find out what they know about this product ,they also told me the same info,so this could be widespread.

I suggest this should not be Builders problem but an Ellies problem, meaning Ellies in all the builders warehouse's must put a sticker on the product stating that "it would not cover surges caused by direct lightning strikes and temporary over voltage caused by loss of neautral", or Ellies must give training to all cosultant.

I will be extremely happy when I go to any Builders Warehouse and get the right information on the product or from the consultants.

Im very passionate about this, because I lost R18 000 worth of appliances plus the cost of the plug R350 because someone did not have the right info.

Thanks.
