Builders Warehouse - management what management ?

We recently moved to Somerset West. Yesterday we visited Builders Warehouse in Helderberg (Somerset West). To say we were extremely disappointed at the state of this BW would be an understatement.

The store gave us the distinct impression that it was either severely underfunded or in rapid decline. The overall impression was one of limited stock and narrow product range - not key attributes that make one travel to a typical Builders Warehouse. Having spent over 30 minutes finding this BW - it's located in some industrial area which is not easy to get to - this was a major let down - not to mention a waste of time.

The staff seemed generally uninterested, dismissive, unhelpful and worse seemed to have little to no training. We spoke to about four or five staff members during our visit and their average product knowledge was so limited it was almost laughable.

Even worse, a couple of the staff appeared to be hiding in their booths (almost lying down on their chairs) and were clearly trying to catch up on their sleep. We had to approach quietly in case we suddenly startled the one chap causing him to fall off his chair.

We soon realized it was ultimately quicker for us to just search on our own rather than ask for assistance. Not that that really helped either since this BW aforementioned limited range and stock meant we were very likely wasting our time.

I wonder just how bad a Builders Warehouse has to be to warrant management involvement or intervention. Because there certainly didn't appear to be anyone in charge in the store based on our experience.

We certainly won't be visiting this Builders Warehouse again anytime soon.
