BUILDERS WAREHOUSE - makes ***** easy!

I purchased R17k worth of goods for a building project and gave the ORIGINAL receipt to the builder as he needed to collect the goods. He promptly de*****ed me by returning some of the goods and BUILDERS WAREHOUSE GLENEAGLES gave him the credit (into HIS BUILDERS CARD) . This is despite BUILDERS WAREHOUSE refund policy - published in black and white on their website "All refunds will be paid to the payment method used during purchase or to your Builders card profile" - not a third party's card!!!! I attempted to discuss this with the manager (MAFUNDO) who calmly advised me that they CANNOT CHECK EVERY SLIP to see who made the purchase and I must "go to legal". Possession of the original invoice does not automatically give you a right to a refund under the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA). The invoice is merely proof of purchase, which is necessary to exercise your rights, but a refund is only guaranteed under specific conditions laid out in the Act.
