Builders Warehouse Flagrantly Disregards POPI

A Builder's Warehouse employee has, without my knowledge, created an online Builders Warehouse account in my name using my details from an order. Perhaps they thought they were doing good but this is unacceptable practice. The first I heard of this was when I received an account activation email and sms request. I did not activate the account but instead queried the creation of the account at ********** - the only way of getting hold of them. Rather than clarification, their resolution was to unsubscribe me - by accessing the account they had originally created... all this alerted to my phone. Still no response from Builders after discussion with their call centre agents. Do they actually understand POPI? Their "on hold" message today proudly says they are totally POPI compliant. How can you let this type of identify theft happen Builders?
