Builders Warehouse
I am so disappointed! I needed to get paint and glue for my bathroom this morning at Builders Warehouse Northriding. I wasn't allowed because my 9 month old baby can't wear a face mask. Afterwards I went to Pick n Pay and Builders Warehouse in Robindale where we both were welcomed with open arms. I will never support Builders Warehouse in Northriding again. Also note: However, it is extremely important to note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) specifically states that "cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance." The above statement was also communicated by the World Health Organization (WHO). Kindly also indicate as to why Builders Warehouse in Northriding has this requirement, but Builders Warehouse in Robindale has no issues with children under 2 entering the store with no fase mask? If everyone knew that Builders Warehouse SA has this requirement, then at least people can decide if they want to support Builders Warehouse and/or if they would rather want to take their business elsewhere.

As I already stated in my communication to Builders Warehouse SA.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated 4 days ago: "Masks should NOT be worn by children under age 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
National Treasury and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) published an article end of April stating the following: "Children should be supervised at all times when using a cloth mask, and they are not recommended for infants who may struggle to breathe with a mask or even choke if they put parts in their mouths."
If Builders Warehouse SA decides that they would rather not follow the above guidelines and would rather follow their own path and force infants to wear face masks, then they should communicate this and make this known in ALL their stores and not just a couple.
For example, I was able to do my shopping in Builders Warehouse Robindale, but Builders Warehouse Northriding doesn't allow infants without any face masks. This sends a mixed message regarding what the company stands for. Are you with the CDC and their regulations regarding infants wearing face masks or against it?
While I was speaking to a very impolite manager in front of Builders Warehouse Northriding, two more infants and their parents were told that they are not allowed inside the store. People are completely unaware that the store feels so strongly towards babies not wearing face masks.
I think if people know how Builders Warehouse SA feel about the above, they can make an informed decision and decide to either try and go without their baby or they can do online shopping or go to a place like Leroy Merlin where this is not an issue....or go to a different Builders Warehouse which then has nothing to do with the increase in COVID-19 cases, but more to do with different stores in the same chain having different opinions?
Anyway, I am spreading the word to friends and family so that they are aware of what happened and also know what to expect when visiting one of your stores if they choose to.
I am currently renovating and will try and either buy online from Takealot, go to Leroy Merlin, Warrior Paints or Universal Paints or see what will be best during this time for me and my family.
