Builders Warehouse Erasmus Park
Saturday 3rd July we went to Builders Warehouse Erasmus Park to potentially buy a sheet of wood and to get it cut. As we don't have a bakkie to transport the wood to our place of residency ( only 5.7 km away from the store ) we went to ask first if the store do deliveries. We went to a counter, ask if they do and it was said yes, only weekdays.
We went on to choose a lovely piece of wood, then the first frustrating part happened. There was one, ( yes ONE ) person at the Woodcutting area. ( I will acknowledge that that one person had to run between helping customers at the counter and cutting the wood himself at the machine, he has my admiration for working hard )
Then we were directed to go and pay for our purchase, that's when our second hick up came.
In order to get the product delivered to us, i had to open an account ( which i was not told when we asked the first time of the store doing deliveries ), it took a while to open the account.
Then i went back to the cutting bay counter, only to be waiting a long time. ( person was busy cutting wood for another customer, great work by him man alone )
Then out of my own, i ask a person at another counter if i can make copies of our purchase slips, as i knew they will want to do that , to speed up the process.
After that, waiting a few minutes, had another staff member coming past me, he said he will make sure the " the lone ranger" at the cutting bay will get the sheets.
The 3rd part of my frustration is on the day they that they were suppose to deliver my product.
I was in meeting unfortunately so i could not take calls on the day, but on the sheet was an alternative number of my wife that was home on the day, so she could collect the product when it arrives at our home. They did not call her to schedule a delivery time.
I eventually called the store on the Thursday ( 2 days after my wood was suppose to be in my own hands ),
The person was helpful over the phone, with potentially having the wood delivered on Thursday afternoon. Later on I received a call saying it will be delivered the Friday.
Friday came, had to get my wife to be at home again to wait for the delivery. I got a call from the store saying they will be able to deliver around lunch time.
Around 1is, i get a call to say the system is down, they will deliver close to 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon. I did ask if they can deliver the product before 3;30 as we had to go Baby city to get necessities for our baby boy.
Well i can say that it is 6 working days on, and a total of 9 days ( including weekends ) and i still don't have my product that i have bought, with no idea when it will be deliver.
And to just make my blood boil more, i went onto the builders website today, used their portal to say i have a complaint an i need an email address to send it to them, i am still awaiting a reply.
Unless it is a really necessity, I WONT RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYBODY.
I would even go as far as to say to anybody that want to buy any diy stuff, USE YOUR LOCALL HARDWARE STORE RATHER
Lastly i want to commend the one person that worked so hard to cut wood and help customers at the counter, it could not have been easy. Well done to him, but i wonder why would the manager of the store have one person at that point.
