Builders warehouse - Beware the spitting cashiers ... protect your credit cards

If you can find somewhere else to buy ... do it before you try Builders Warehouse. Just spent 2 hours collecting two trolley loads of materials (with no help from the staff - their attitude suck on a good day and I guess that today was a bad day - even worse than normal!). Get to the till and my chip card doesn't work - the cashier takes it, spits on the chip (COVID ???), rubs it and puts it back in the machine. Doesn't work. Try all 7 of my other cards - none work. Tell the lady that it is her machine. Off we go to find the supervisor - then we try another till. Same result (except that this one didn't do the spitting trick). No cards work. At this stage i get a bit picky that my credit cards have been compromised. I offer to do an EFT - no she says - will take too long. So we cancel the deal and I leave. 10 minutes up the road Amex phone to ask if I have tried to use my cards - they advise me that there is a problem with the card reader on whichever terminals were trying to access the data on the card (probably got COVID from the spit !!). I think that I will do the good thing and go back and tell the cashier - which I did. Her response ...... shrug of the shoulders and turns the other way ... thank goodness she didn't spit... 4 hours wasted .... but never again. Now I am off to Ledroy Merlin and never will I return to Builders Warehouse ....
