Builders - House of deception lies, blame shifting, inferior products at premium prices

Overall I find Builders Warehouse a company worthy of being forgotten about or to be closed down.

Their service and offering are sub standard at inflated prices.

Issue 1:

I bought dog food that indicated a sell by date of May 2018. Once opened it was full of mould. It poisoned my Boston Terrier and nearly ****ed her. We took the dog food right back and was told, in store, it was not their problem but the distribution centre's issue. Excuse me, I didn't know that there was any difference in legal entity. Had a call from Head Office apologizing for the issue even volunteering to pay for our dogs medical bill - how nice! Until we received a call back indicating that there is NO proof that we had previously purchased the dog food as originally indicated. What does this company think I am? an idiot? They "searched" my account and could not find any dog food purchases. Do you think that I buy all my purchases on account? That I do not pay cash? Needless to say any reimbur*****t would indicate guilt and Builders would certainly not admit any guilt even if their shelves are loaded with expired dogfood! Just plain pathetic.

Issue 2:

Bought tiles (which can be traced to my account) . A Grade at premium price. Once tiled i thought i was seeing things. the tiles from 2 different boxes were different shades of white. yes true! Premium price for premium ****. Why didn't i do anything? because the darn tiles were already on the ****** wall! I'll bet Builders will have an excuse here too! "Sorry sir, it must be how the light reflects in your bathrooms"

Issue 3:

Lack of any ownership. Bought standard packaged curtains. NOT ONE OF THE CURTAINS ONCE OPENED WERE THE SAME LENGTH. Took it back to be advised that the issue must be taken up with the supplier - Builders merely stock the product. What? I beg your pardon? The attendant advises me, what is she to do about this. Sorry, i thought that if you work for builders that you should have some product knowledge about the range you stock. The supplier didn't sell it to me YOU did! I guess builders pay their staff to sit in a dept, therefore they pay appearance money, not a salary for actually doing their job! Oh and just to advise, YOU WON'T FIND THE PURCHASE OF THE CURTAINS ON MY ACCOUNT EITHER. IT WAS A GIFT FROM MY MOTHER you bunch of idiots.

Issue 4:

I've been struggling with my pool. ALL 120 000 liters of it. Like a good idiot, I take a water sample and take it to the testing station in store. Each month, something else is wrong. I have the reports to prove it and my account will verify pool product purchases in line with the recommendation from the testing station that total to close to R1000 monthly. Nothing - pool is as green as pea soup. So much so i now need professionals to come correct the matter. My deduction - this is a ****** money making scheme!

Issue 5:

Builders stock inferior quality products. Bought a "Gio" plug for my spare bathroom when decking it out with the sub standard tiles i bought. We've used it no more than a handful of times. The plug does not release water from the basin when pushed.

Deduction

Staff take no responsibility, management doesn't give a hoot, blame shifting is rampant, they sell inferior quality products at premium prices.

Builders remain a shopping mecca if you want to buy **** and be **********!

Seriously, do the South African public a favour and close your pathetic operation.

My grandmother can run a store better.

And i will contact the local newspapers and social platforms with proof because you must think i'm stupid enough not to have kept any.

I will make it my mission to cause you as much damage as I can because you deserve it!

Enjoy

Hi Warren,

Thank you for informing me of the service you’ve encountered at our store.

I am sorry that this experience has not been a pleasant one and I can assure you that this is certainly not what we want happening to any of our customers.

For you to experience these issues from expired dog food, the different tiles reflecting different shades of white, the curtains being a different length, the matter with your pool and the quality of the products purchased is a hard one to swallow as we strive to provide the best service possible.

These concerns need to be addressed with the Branch Manager at the Kempton Park store to ensure that the behaviours are corrected to better all customer experiences, a better understanding when it comes to knowing the products and assisting all customers in the best possible way.

Kindly note that I will be in contact with you regarding this complaint.

Regards,
Athena
