Builders Express Robindale - Terrible Service

I visited the Builders Express Robindale store on Saturday, 21 April to purchase paint. I prefer buying from Builders Warehouse because of the experiences I've had with the company over the past 10 years. Unfortunately, this visit was very different. Having made a 20l paint purchase because there were no testers of a smaller quantity, I tried a small (30cm) patch on my house wall and found the colour to be completely wrong. Like in the past, I took the drum back to exchange for another colour. While attempting the exchange, one of the paint specialists(didn't get his name) was extremely unhelpful and remarked that I had made use of an excessive amount before making the return. It was at this point that I asked to speak to a manager.

The manager on duty, Eugene, sorry to say was even worse than the person who sent him to me. It was obvious that the two of them had spoken about the situation before he got to where I was. Eugene approached me with no greeting or willingness to understand the situation from my perspective. Instead, without even opening the paint tin, he says to me 'What are we going to do if the paint is short?' I was very surprised by this but coolly asked him to compare the paint level to another and he'd see that it's not 'short'. He failed to do that but instead further commented "But what if it is short, what are we going to do'. It's then when I lost my patience and spoke to him in a very stern manner. At this point, one of the brand assistants for that paint came over to have a look. He immediately confirmed with Eugene that the paint level is acceptable for return. No apology or the like, Eugene quickly proceeded to walk away. In all my time shopping at different BW branches, I've not once experienced a situation or staff member who was as blatantly disrespectful with zero customer s****s as Eugene. He was confrontational, rude, unwilling to listen and simply arrogant. He only thing that beat his lack of customer s****s was his grasp of common logic.

I would hope that some action is taken so that another customer doesn't have to deal with his shoddy service. I for one will no longer be visiting the Robindale branch. I'd rather drive a little further to have a better customer experience...
