Brand New Ross Compressor Seized Up

On Thursday 8 March 2018 I bought a Ross compressor RS-DD1.5-24 S/N 150001 from the Sunward Park branch. I transported the unit to my farm on Friday 9 March. On Saturday I offloaded the unit and took it to my workshop. On the first attempt it failed to start and the motor only made a humming noise. I realised the unit is not able to run due to mechanical problem. On Monday 12 March the unit was returned to the store. The compressor was received for assessment by Ross. I requested a replacement but I was told it was out of the store managers control and therefore cannot refund me or replace the unit. A week later I received a call from the branch saying the compressor is being assessed and a quotation will be submitted later this week. This was not well received. Today, two weeks later I received a call from the branch which informed me that I will be charged some R350 for the repairs as the unit was ran without oil.

What a blatant cover up for bad quality and service from both Ross and Builders Express.

I will not accept a repair and requested a refund which is now in the hands of the store manager. In the mean time I do not have a compressor for which I paid good money.

I will keep you posted. This will get interesting in the next few days.

On top of this I previously had a Builders Warehouse, Boksburg, Dewalt machine problem. After a battle a refund was made by Dewalt's agent in South Africa. Builders did not offered to replace or refund. This makes you think!

Dear Suhayfa, Thank you for your response. It is not good enough to strive for exceptional service. It is clear that your staff is not aware of this and not able to deal with matter of this kind. I admit that I missed a call from an 086 number at 13:32 on Friday but cannot accept all calls always and even if it was from the store or yourselves then a follow up call could have been made. I do jot think that you are serious in solving this matter as it is already 09:30 Monday the 26 March, nearly 2 weeks later. This is not good enough. Your urgent intervention I required. Also, the compressor was sold without the required documents as required by the Pressure Euipment regulations of the OHSAct. Department of Labour will be very interested to hear this. Sue, Thank you for the call but I will not accept a damaged repaired unit even if Ross or Builders carry the cost. I bought a new unit and was accused of running the unit without oil. Professional engineers do not do stupid things like that. Please arrange for my refund to be delivered as I will never visit a Builders again.........nooit nie!!
