Beware buying from Builders Warehouse,

I bought an Ariston Lux 15L water heater from Builders Warehouse & installed it. A week or so later the unit was "dead" - no power. On inspection the safety cut out had tripped. I reset the cut out button but 2 weeks later the same happened. I removed the unit & tested it in my workshop to see if the problem was with the unit or my customers electricity supply. It tripped a 3rd time which clearly indicated to me it was a problem with the unit. I returned the unit to Builders Warehouse to be told they have nothing to do with Ariston returns I have to deal directly with Ariston themselves. In fact I was expected to reinstall it at the customers premises & log a fault with Ariston & they would go to site sometime & check it. This is totally impractical since my customer needs hot water.

That Builders Warehouse absolves itself from any dealings regarding defects of goods they sell is astonishing. I can tell you now that Ariston have a very, very, very poor record for after sales service & I expect to have to battle with them over this issue. All indications are that this fault existed on purchase yet Builders Warehouse pass the buck & the associated inconveniences to their customer. My customers trust in me to supply them with good products & service & I rely on those I purchase from. I have purchased a second Ariston Lux 15L and fitted it to minimise my customers down time, such is my commitment to my customers.

By body swerving their responsibility to its customers Builders Warehouse need not be too concerned about the quality of the goods they sell. This is a breach of first principles of a buyer/seller relationship.

Builders Warehouse, you owe me the courtesy of assistance to resolve my problem.
