Bad Experience

On the 12 Dec 2016 we received the worst service at Builders, Strubensvalley ever. We bought a tin of paint to the value R258.00. We then left, hardly 5 min away we smelled paint, when we stopped to look, the whole boot was spilled with paint, we then went back to see if Builders would not replace the paint that clearly was not sealed properly. The guy that we were told to speak to, with regards to the incident said that they will not replace it or refund us. He said it was our fault, and he told us that this always happens that the lid pops open. So my husband asked him to demonstrate it, he then went to fetch a sealed new tin but had to use a ***** driver to open it. My husband then asked him to make it fall to the side so we can see if it will pop open, he said he can't do that. We clearly received a tin that was not sealed properly and popped open as soon as it fell to its side, he then called his manager "Clifford" who left already explaining him the situation, after he spoke to his manger over the phone, he told us Clifford insisted that it was our fault and refuses to replace the tin or give us a refund even though he was not there with us. There was no remorse or assistance offered, or investigation made, just BLAME and that it was our fault and that they will NOT assist us. If what they claim that "the lid just pops open" is true, then why is there No sign of "caution " put up, so we as customers will know that the paint containers must be held titely when we transport it. The problem right here is the fact that they sell products that is not sealed properly, and if something happens, they do the blame game and do not want to accept responsibility. Now we have permanent paint stains that will cost a fortune to get fixed and have pay another R258 for a new tin of paint.

Hi Jocelyn,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

This isn't the type of customer service we want you to receive.

I've escalated this to store management for it to be looked into and for preventative measures to be put in place.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,

Tristan Kelly
Builders Customer Service Agent

Best regards,
