Atrocious Customer Service - Builders Warehouse Hillcrest

On the 07th May I purchased a Ryobi cordless drill. To do some DIY around my home. I followed the charging instructions as per the booklet. However midway through my task the drill stop working. I checked and battery was low. Thereafter I connect the charging unit and wait. Reconnect battery to drill and to no avail. A few days go by and I was not feeling well. As a precautionary measure I had a Covid – 19 test done. Thankfully it was negative . As per my doctor’s recommendation , I self quarantine at home for 14 days. On the 29th I go back to store were I purchase it and explain what happened when I used the drill for the very first time and also my situation as to why I could not come in earlier. So I asked what’s your procedure, can I take another unit or refund? No we have to send the unit away for feedback from the supplier, how long will that take? Between 14 and 21 days. Really?. I politely asked they refund me. as this unit was new and under a month old. No I have wait for feedback from supplier. In interim period everything is mess at home and I don’t have a drill. No choice but to buy another drill to sort out my DIY at home. On the 16 June a service consultant calls me to say I must fetch the unit. I told her but I asked for a refund because I had to buy another drill. I don’t know sir , I shall call you back. No return call received. On the 17 June I go into the store explain why I am here and requesting a refund. As I had bought another drill to complete my task. She then calls her manager and relays our entire conversation to him. The manager then comes to address me 15mins later. Sorry I spoken to supplier and they repaired the unit. We can not do a refund for you. While I was trying to explain to him that I was ill and thus could not bring it in sooner. He started using a high pitch tone and told me he does care what I have to say. If I got a problem then I must take it up with Ryobi. He even went to extent of saying I can do what I want but I would not be getting a refund from his store. The unit was under a month old and it failed. I feel as if was being treated like a ******** for asking a refund . However I did not purchase the unit from Ryobi, I bought it from Builders Warehouse. I have never received such atrocious service before. This type of customer service is deplorable to say the very least.
