Appalling attitude of senior store manager at Builders WH
As a regular customer and big spender at Builders warehouse in Northgate, Cape Town, I was totally appalled by the attitude we got from the senior store manager Nadeem Rahman when trying to return a Ryobi hedge trimmer we had bought the day before and which proved completely inefficient. It started with a sales person who had no clue about the power and performance of this electric trimmer. When we wanted to buy the rechargeable battery for it, which is customer unfriendly done at another department, we bought the most expensive one with the most Amps, after he tried to phone the company Ryobi in vain. I told him what we need it for and he recommended it, it appears he wanted to sell the article without too much work and questions asked... At home the hedge trimmer wasn't cutting even the smallest twigs, so I brought it straight back the next day. The very friendly ladies in service at Builders Warehouse phoned the manager to ask for authorisation for the credit but he wouldn't give it. I insisted to see the senior store manager Mr. Rahman who unwillingly came and said he cannot refund just like that and gruffly asked what was wrong with it. He was obviously annoyed by the fact that he had to come and gave me a stinking attitude. I told him about his staff who obviously don't know the products they are selling, if I had gotten the correct info I would have never bought it in the first place. After more of his annoyed attitude and more insisting on my side he finally dismissively said to the ladies, "just give him the refund I don't want to discuss this anymore"! So I am waiting to see if the refund will really show, but meanwhile Builders Warehouse hast lost a good customer. I don't need to get such an appalling attitude where responsibility is just shifted on the customer instead of going back to the salesman and educate him/her about the product. I had 4 unnecessary drives to Builders WH and will certainly not subject myself to any of this again. Nothing will change as Mr. Rahman easily blames the customer when he and his team is at fault and a return of goods should be no problem the next day according to their own policy anyway. Fortunately there are enough competitors, good bye Builders WH! Stay away if you can!
