Acting outside the SA Consumer Goods Act

I bought a ceramic bathroom tumbler and soap dish two (2) months ago from Builders Riverhorse Valley store in Durban. Tried to wash the tumbler in hot water to remove stains and it cracked, obviously must have been a floor in the ceramics .

I attempted to return it to the store with the invoice but they refused.Find it very disturbing that one of the biggest retailing groups in South Africa is trading outside the South African consumer laws.I believe they are acting *******ly and need to be brought to book . In terms of the law, a consumer is allowed to return a factory fault item for a full credit within six (6 ) months of purchase.

I have sent three (3) emails to their consumer departmen but they have all been ignored. I'd certainly be very cautious to buy from them or their sister companies in future.
