On the 29/12/23, my brother and I went to Build It Uitenhage to buy locks since we installed new gates and we were traveling out of the City on that same day. We weren't sure if the locks will fit or not, so during the hesitation to buy them, I asked the cashier of their closing time since it was still festive season, because I wanted to return them if they didn't fit. Got home tried fitting them on the gates and they were small, and because, it's not one of those typical type of locks that you can measure just by looking at them, we had to take them out. We then went back for an exchange, on our arrival, Nomthandazo who is a Front End Manager assisted us, and she told us we were not supposed to open the pack, because they can't sell it to the next person if it's open...Firstly when I asked their closing time incase of returning them, wasn't told we weren't supposed to open them, I would haven't wasted my time and fuel going up and down, and Secondly, on their slip, nothing stated that either.. she then told us to wait for the managers who were out at the time... waited almost 45 min and finally, Mike came, I explained what happened and that nothing on their receipt stated anything about not opening the pack.

I am surprised for a big company like Build It that operates like one of the Chinese shops, even they are way much better and way ahead now, you enter their stores and first thing you'll see is their policies of what not to do with their merchandise, since you won't find some of those policies on their receipts.. so do better and update your policies on the receipts, in that case we won't be wasting each others time.
