Deceived and Disappointed: Our Costly Experience with Build it Mamaila
To our valued community, we wish to bring attention to an unfortunate experience with Build it Mamaila regarding a tile purchase we made on October 5th. Here is what happened: On that day, we carefully selected a tile based on the advice of their salesperson, Bucs, who assured us that the tile would cover 2.1 square meters. We were also informed that Capitec Bank could assist with financing and the very next day (6/10/2024), Capitec swiftly approved our loan, which they directly paid to Build it Mamaila.
To cut the story short, the transaction quickly became problematic. Despite the loan being paid, Build it Mamaila informed us that they needed to source tiles from other branches. Days later, they managed to find only 24 boxes, but not enough to fulfill our order. Eventually, they said the tile was out of stock. At this point, the regional manager, Zee, stepped in, bringing a few samples to the Thohoyandou Build it store for us to choose from.
Trying to resolve this matter, we selected an alternative tile. After that we found this tile covers only 1.44 square meters instead of the original 2.1 square meters. Then, Zee asked us to cover the shortfall of an amount we simply don’t have. Our decision to apply for the loan from Capitec was based on the invoice given. After assessing our affordability we secured a loan for the original amount. Us paying extra money will be a daylight *******, as we are now paying installments on a loan for products we haven’t received as promised. To make matters worse, Zee clarified that the tile on the invoice is not even the one we had originally chosen. We feel misled, as the store initially represented a product they could not provide.
This issue has placed an immense strain on us, financially and emotionally. After spending over 1.5 million on our home through this store, this experience has been devastating. We are planning to pursue legal action for misrepresentation and *****, as we believe we were sold a product they knew was not in stock.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we seek a fair resolution.
