The second time writing a complaint about your Newcastle store.

Today I went to Build it Newcastle to buy shper lay kid and I found for R399.99 on shelve (picture attached) I took it to the cashier to cash and I was told that the price is R849.99 to my surprised, the cashier asked for assistance from front end supervisor. I told him the the same story R399 on the product but it scans a different price and he said that the producI told him I want it for the written on the shelve and he said "no".

I asked for the manager who was very unkind and uttered the same sentiment.

I couldn't believe such a treatment and they left me standing without even apologizing for the mistake. They just went outside to smoke. Is this how customers should be treated?

Hi Bonginkosi, In accordance of the Consumer Protection Act the label did not correspond to the product that you want to purchase. The item you wanted to purchase was a 20l ABE super Laycold and the shelf price was for a ABE brixeal. The manager of Newcastle advised that the item matching the description on the shelf was there and he explained this to you. Please be advised that you can purchase the correct product matching the shelf price at Giyani Build it. Thanks and regards Build it Customer Care.

Consumer Credit Act 68 of 2008 section 3
“A supplier must not require a consumer to pay a price for any goods or services:

higher than the displayed price for those goods or services; or
if more than one price is concurrently displayed, higher than the lower or lowest of the prices so displayed.

If a price that was once displayed has been fully covered and obscured by a second displayed price, that second price must be regarded as the displayed price.”
