I purchased a second-hand Kawasaki KLR 650 from Buffalo Motorcycle Adventures on Saturday, 18 October. Before finalizing the purchase, I was told the bike had been checked and was in good condition. On collection, I mentioned that I’d be taking it for a full inspection and service. I took it to Doctor KLR for a complete check-up to ensure everything was sound. The service, including valve adjustment and replacement of missing components, came to R5,000, which I’ve already paid. During the inspection, it was found that both front forks were severely damaged and must be replaced, pushing total repair costs to over R15,000. None of this was disclosed by Buffalo Motorcycle Adventures prior to sale. Had I known the true condition of the bike, I would not have proceeded with the purchase. When I raised these findings, I received a dismissive response. The dealership stated that, due to the bike’s age (a 2007 model), they “cannot renew everything” and refused to assist with the repairs, even though they acknowledged the Consumer Protection Act warranty applies. Their response made it clear that they are unwilling to help unless repairs are done through them — despite the fact that the damage was discovered immediately after purchase and independently verified. If you’re considering buying from Buffalo Motorcycle Adventures, proceed with extreme caution. Unless you strip the bike down before purchase, you risk discovering serious undisclosed damage afterward, with no real support or accountability from the dealer.
